Surf Simply Photos

Every week we snap away as much as possible so that you’ll have some great images to take home with you. Every surfer, beginner to pro, loves getting a good shot of themselves coming down a wave face too, so we try to get out for at least a couple of photo shoot surf sessions. We hope you enjoy looking through our little photo gallery and that it gives you a feel for what life at the Surf Simply resort is like.

Each surf chalet has it's own little living room.

The beach is never completely empty of course. There's usually either turtles, lizards or monkeys hanging around.

This was a yoga retreat who came to stay and for most of whom, surfing was an after thought. By the end of the week though it was the surfing that had taken center stage. Even for 74 year old Doug on the far left next to Gem.

Once everyone is in the water all the cameras are trained on the surf, getting every detail of every maneuver for a bit of post surf analysis.

Playa Guiones is usually a very mellow wave and so it does not often barrel but there are a few to be had if you know where to look. Ru tucks into the shade.

After Kelly Slater's contest success on his new style of short, flat surfboards in 2009, we bought in a few for the Surf Simply resort. Ru takes one out for a spin.

If you come to Costa Rica during the green season (May-Nov) then the water falls are running and so after going zip lining you can cool off like Lucy's doing here.

A local girl here in Nosara makes bikinis which actually stay on when you wipeout on a big wave. They're always in high demand by the local surfer girls. She happens to be a good friend of Surf Simply and so Becky and Francela got first dibs on all the new stock for 2010. Here they had spent two hours trying on a bag full of Desi's bikini's back at the Surf Simply resort.

Sometimes the super stoked mini groms just can't hold it all in.

The free surf club we stated for the local kids here in 2007 has produced some great little rippers. On this day instead of surfing we thought a lesson was needed in not littering the beach.

It took a while for the local girls to build up the courage to join the boys at the surf club but once Jesse and Francela (two of Costa Rica's best female surfers) came on board to help us coach, the girls started charging as much as the boys.

Every November ERA Adventures team up with Surf Simply to run International Beach Lifeguard accreditation courses here in Nosara.

Surf Simply sponsored some of the local surfers to do the course as part of helping them to set up there own surf school. Ru and Stuart go through CPR with local surfers Randal, Esteban and Luigi.

First time lifeguard Shirley buddies up with veteran Gem for the practice rescues during the training week.

Everyone was relieved after the exam on the final day of the lifeguard course and Esteban and Luigi became Costa Rica's first internationally qualified lifeguards.

Having dinner up at Lagarta Lodge is always pretty special as you can over look the mountains, jungle, river and beach while you watch the sunset over the ocean.

The sun disappears fast in the tropics but looks pretty amazing as it sinks into the sea.

Swimming in the pool at the Surf Simply resort at night is beautiful. The air is cool and water is warm and because you are so far from any towns or cities the stars can look like dust across the sky.
